Joyce M. Walsh, 84

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Joyce May Walsh, 84, of Cole Avenue died on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, at Williamstown Commons.

Born in Williamstown on Sept. 12, 1931, a daughter of Henry E. and Harriet Smith Bratcher, she attended schools in Williamstown, graduating from the former Williamstown High School.  She aslo attended Green Mountain College, where she studied fashion design.

Mrs. Walsh assisted her late husband, Gary E. Walsh, in the operation of his business, Walsh's Auto Sales on Cole Avenue.

She will always be remembered for her elegance, flair and style, which she took great pride in. Her love for animals was evident as she always showed her concern for them. She took part in the "Fabulous Forties Reunions" for Williamstown High School. One of her greatest joys was her family, and she was a devoted mother, grandmother and sister.

Her husband, whom she married April 11, 1952, died on Nov. 1, 2007.   

She leaves her daughter, Christine Walsh of Williamstown; a son, Stephen "Bone" Walsh and his wife, Debra, of Pownal, Vt.; four grandchildren, Jaycee Markovic, Elizabeth Walsh, Jennifer Picard-Mantooth and Stephen Lane; five great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Alice Bratcher of Williamstown and her sister, Jeannie Lemeiux of Pownal, Vt.; Julie Menard and Beverly Sylvester, who were like daughters to her, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Allison Walsh and a brother, Henry E. Bratcher Jr.

FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mrs. Walsh will take place Saturday, Feb. 6, at 11 a.m. at Sherman Burbank Chapel in Williamstown. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery.

A reception will follow at the family residence at 57 Cole Ave., Williamstown. Memorial donations are suggested for the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter through Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams.

Chris and Steve, I remember riding in your mom's 56ish DeSoto or Plymouth that was a factory pink and black as I recall. Your mother was very kind and beautiful. I am sorry to hear of your loss.
