Grazie's Italian Restaurant Q&A

 Grazie’s Italian Restaurant Q & A with Owner/Chef Matt Tatro

Q. You have opened a successful restaurant. At the end of the day, what accomplishment makes you the most proud?

Knowing my restaurant brings friends and families together in a positive spirit to enjoy quality food and drink in a warm & friendly atmosphere.

Q. Why did you decide to pursue a career in the restaurant business?

I have a passion for cooking and love to see the customers happy. It is instant satisfaction to see people enjoying themselves.

Q What has been your greatest professional success?

This restaurant venture. It has been my dream ever since I decided to pursue this business and my career path.

Q: What’s your secret to keeping customers coming in? What have been some of your most successful promotions, and where did they originate?

Keep things personal. Touching tables & talking to customers and getting their feedback.

Q. As a restaurant manager, how important is it to have actual experience in every aspect of the business, as you have?

Owning a restaurant takes a well-rounded individual and a very strong team behind them. Between my wife Mackenzie, Dave Moresi, myself and all of our staff we certainly have that.

Q. What advice can you give to those who would like to open a restaurant of their own someday?

Be prepared to work hard. The most successful restaurants I have ever worked in had hands-on owners. Long hours, holidays, nights & weekends. It’s not easy on your personal life, but you have to find balance.

Q. What is your signature dish?

The Veal or Chicken Saltimbocca has been by far the most praised dish on our menu. People also love our homemade dessert list.

Q. How did you come up with the idea for your restaurant?

Working with my wife and business partner, David Moresi, we knew North Adams needed a great Italian restaurant back into our downtown.

"...the place is gorgeous. The atmosphere felt very authentic Italian. We got there around 5:30 and got seated right away, soon after the place was packed! I suggest getting there early. Service was fast. We started with the calamari and it was perfect. I ordered the chicken parm - it was a huge piece of chicken and a small side of pasta. At that point I was full but I wanted to try dessert so I got the chocolate torte and it was a delight. All around great food and experience. We will be back for sure!"

"I just want to say thank you to Matt and his staff for making my anniversary memorable. I had the filet and it puts every high priced piece of steak I've had to shame for about half the price. She had the chicken parmesan which was very flavorful. Not your ordinary piece of chicken. Portions were plentiful without being wasteful. All in all it was a great night and we can't wait to go back."

"I do not think there are enough positive adjectives to describe how amazing my experience was! The place is gorgeous, the waitstaff is professional yet friendly, and the food....oh the food!!!! WOW! Grazie Matt Tatro for opening up the finest restaurant our town has seen in a very very long time!"
