Taconic Third in Western Mass Football Media Poll

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- After winning its season opener at Sandwich in Eastern Massachusetts, the Taconic High football team is the highest ranked Berkshire County team in the initial Western Mass Football Media Poll of the year.
 
Taconic is ranked third in the poll, which includes voters from five media outlets in Berkshire County and the Pioneer Valley.
 
Springfield Central, which lost its opener last week to Rhode Island’s La Salle Academy, remains a media darling, garnering five of eight first place votes.
 
The poll features two Berkshire County schools in its top 10: Taconic, who tied for No. 2 with Chicopee Comp, and Wahconah, which checks in at No. 7.
 
The poll, which is organized by the Berkshire Eagle, includes voters from iBerkshires.com, the Berkshire Courier, the Greenfield Recorder and the Daily Hampshire Gazette.
