Hoosac's Defense Grounds Mahar

ORANGE, Mass. -- Hoosac Valley held Mahar Regional to minus-56 yards of offense to earn a 34-12 win on Friday night.

 

For the second straight week, the Hurricanes (2-0) got off to a fast start, this time going up 28-6 at half-time.

 

Four different 'Canes found the end zone Johnny Lewis scored on a 4-yard run to start the game and an 8-yarder in the fourth quarter to end it. In between, Brenden Ellsworth and Tyler Mach scored on short runs, and Peter Barrow caught a 26-yard TD pass from quarterback Matt Koperniak.

 

Koperniak threw for 90 yards. Ellsworth led Hoosac's rushing attack with 71 yards on 15 carries. Mach had 54 yards on 10 attempts.

 

The Hurricanes host Mount Greylock (1-1) on Saturday.
