Taconic Moves to Second in Western Mass Football Poll

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Chicopee Comp Thursday moved to the top of the Western Mass High School Football Media Poll, taking over from Wahconah after its loss last Friday to Taconic.
 
Taconic (5-1) moved up to second place after the win, picking up a second first-place vote. Five of the first-place votes went to Chicopee Comp (6-0), while Springfield Central (4-2) got a first-place vote to help it move up to third place.
 
Westfield (5-1) also moved up, going to fourth after handing Northampton (5-1) its first loss. Northampton slipped three spots, from third to sixth, in the poll.
 
Wahconah (5-1) fell four spots to No. 5 after picking up its first loss.
 
Agawam (4-2) held serve at No. 7.
 
Mount Greylock (6-0) jumped Turners Falls (6-0), moving into the No. 8 spot, and South Hadley (4-2) continues to be ranked 10th.
 
The poll, organized by the Berkshire Eagle, includes voters from the Eagle, Greenfield Recorder, Daily Hampshire Gazette, Berkshire Courier and iBerkshires.
