This week's iBerkshires.com/Adams Community Bank Athletes of the Week have their respective teams headed toward high postseason seeds with about a week left in the regular season.

At Wahconah, the girls soccer team turned heads with back-to-back wins over 2017 Western Massachusetts Division 3 finalist Monument Mountain.

Sophomore Noelle Furlong scored the game-winner in the 1-0 victory in Dalton and added a goal in Monday's rematch down in Great Barrington.

Wahconah is 9-3-1 and 7-1-1 after a 2-2 start heading into the final week plus, which it begins on Monday at Mount Greylock.

If Wahconah wins its last three, it will stands a good chance of getting a top four seed when the D3 sectional pairings are decided on Halloween.

The football pairings come out on Sunday, and, at 4-2, the Hoosac Valley Hurricanes are locked in a battle for the second through third spots in Division 8.

A lot depends on what happens elsewhere, but Hoosac's task is clear: Beat Commerce on Saturday in Cheshire and the Hurricanes are pretty much assured to be playing somewhere the following week for a berth in the sectional final.

Fortunately for Hoosac Valley, winning is something it has been doing a lot in recent weeks, continuing a three-game winning streak with a wild win over Pittsfield on Friday night.

Senior quarterback Justin Meczywor directed the offense to its most productive day of the year, scoring twice on the ground himself and complementing the punishing ground game of Week Five Athlete of the Week Liam Feeley.

The iBerkshires.com Athlete of the Week is sponsored by Adams Community Bank.
