NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Michael Wellspeak threw for four touchdowns and ran for another Saturday to lead the Mount Greylock football team to a 52-12 win over Drury that completed an 8-0 regular season for the Mounties.

Mount Greylock broke the game open with a 24-point second quarter that started when Wellspeak hit Brandon Condon for a 10-yard score to make it 14-6.

The Mounties then recovered a fumble at Drury’s 43, and the short field led to a 19-yard Wellspeak to Condon connection. Cal Messina’s 2-pointer made it 22-6.

A 1-yard run by Devin Pelletier and a 2-pointer by Wellspeak pushed the lead to 30-6 going into half-time.

In the third quarter, Sean McCormack caught TD passes of 43 yards and 26 yards to extend the lead to 40 points, and sophomore Tyler Carnevale came off the bench to score from 8 yards out to give Mount Greylock its biggest lead of the game, 52-6, midway through the fourth quarter.

Drury (3-5) scored the first and last points of the game.

A 15-yard pass from Obilio Rodriguez to Hayden Bird on fourth down on the first drive of the game gave the Blue Devils an early 6-0 lead what Wellspeak answered late in the quarter with a 1-yard run.

The game’s final points came on an 11-yard TD catch by Zach Yeaton.

Mount Greylock finds out Sunday morning against whom it will open the Western Massachusetts playoffs. Drury will play two weeks of non-qualifier games before finishing the season on the night before Thanksgiving with the renewal of its rivalry against Hoosac Valley.
