NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Despite Chad Raimer's second straight hat trick and an improved defensive performance, the McCann Tech boys' soccer team came up one goal short in a 4-3 loss to Commerce on Friday.

The Red Raiders, who were forced to play with only 10 players on Friday, exploded for nine goals the first time the two teams met earlier in the month. The Hornets (8-8, 4-3) cut that total by more than half in the rematch but still couldn't find a way to slow down Eyasu Michael, who scored three goals in the match, including the game winner on a penalty kick late in the second half. Mahat Diriye also had a goal and an assist for the Commerce, while Melfin Agueda chipped in with two assists as well.

Raimer did his best to keep McCann in the game, scoring three times to raise his team-leading goal total to 22 this season. Junior Evan LeMire added an assist for the Hornets, who also received a nice performance from classmate Dillon Carr on the defensive end.

Sophomore Chris Gajda made 14 saves in goal for McCann, while Daniel Jones made nine stops to pick up the win in net for the Raiders.

The Hornets close out the regular season with a game at Franklin Tech at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
