Fuller's Goal, Two Assists Lead McCann Past St. Joe

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- McCann Tech defeated St. Joseph, 5-2, Wednesday afternoon at McCann Technical School.
 
"St. Joe's defense played well the first half, but we stuck to our game plan and wore them down," McCann coach Tom Bona said. "It paid off in the second half because we kept the offensive pressure on and the ball started to go in the net.
 
"We're still a little rusty but things are coming together. It was a good team win."
 
McCann opened up the scoring in the first half, when a foul was called on St.Joe inside the box. Senior Shane Fuller capitialized on the pentalty kick putting it in the back of the net.
 
Junior Owen Canales added another to the score board or McCann 20 minutes into the second half. Senior Damon Couture assisted the goal.
 
McCann scored the next two goals putting them ahead 4-0. The goals came from Jon Leal, both assisted by Fuller.
 
St. Joe's, Mike Peplowski finally found the back of the net with 8 minutes remaining in the half. Stephen Feathers earned the assist. 
 
Nico Mereno scored McCann's final goal of the game shortly after Peplowski's. St. Joe scored once more from the Feathers-Peplowki duo, this time Feathers earning the goal.
 
McCann (1-1) will host Ware tomorrow for a 4 p.m. kickoff, and St. Joe (0-3) hosts Hoosac Valley Friday afternoon.
