NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The home cooking has tasted especially good recently for the McCann Tech boys' soccer team, which won its third straight home game on Friday with a 4-0 shutout over Pathfinder.

The Hornets improved it's home record to 4-3-1 this year thanks to two goals each by senior captain Nate Gutmann and junior Chad Raimer. Adam Kozik's team has now won three straight games by a combined score of 12-3, improving their overall mark to 6-8-1.

Raimer got things started off in the sixth minute, cleaning up an assist from freshman Shane Fuller to put McCann on the board. The hosts didn't score again until the 49th minute, when Raimer set up Gutmann with his first strike of the game. The two Hornets' scoring threats hooked up again 16 minutes later, as Raimer finished off a pass from Guttman this time. Guttman then closed out the game with an unassisted tally with eight minutes left on the clock.

"Pathfinder had one major threat, who was an outstanding ball-handler up front," Kozik said. "We managed to contain him to earn our third shutout of the season."

McCann fired up a ton of shots, outshooting the Pioneers 48-26 in the game. Hornets' goalkeeper Connor Vazquez finished with 18 saves, while junior midfielder Seth Marko also played a big role in earning the shutout for McCann.

The Hornets next play at Ware at 4 p.m. on Monday.
