WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Eric Hirsch scored from 12 yards out early in the first half, and Mount Greylock's defense made that goal stand up for a 1-0 boys soccer win against Hampshire on Friday afternoon.

The winning play started with a cross into the 18-yard box by Dan Flynn. Sam Dils' header went off a Hampshire defender to the feet of Hirsch, who went low to beat the keeper.

Mount Greylock (6-0-1) allowed just one shot on goal on Cal Filson.

"Our back four really played well today [David Majetich, Jake Foehl, Ian Brink, Taylor Carlough]," Mount Greylock cocah Blair Dils said. "They had a lot of pressure on them but handled the Hampshire attack again and again. Limiting Hampshire to only three shots really tells the story about how well the backs played."

Mount Greylock hosts Lenox at 4 p.m.
