LONGMEADOW, Mass. -- The host Longmeadow boys soccer team exploded for three goals in the first 13 minutes of the second half to erase a one-goal deficit and earn a 3-2 win over Mount Greylock on Saturday.

Will Echeverria scored twice for the Lancers. He also made a game-saving play on a ball on the line in the closing minutes to preserve Longmeadow’s lead.

“We played very well for long stretches in the game against a very strong team,” Mount Greylock coach Blair Dils said. “We certainly played well enough to get a point in the road but we came up just short. Echeverria may be the best all-around player we’ve seen. He put his team on his shoulders today.”

Toby Foehl scored twice for Mount Greylock, on assists from Sam Dils and Quinn Johnstadt.

The Mounties got six saves -- including a save on a first half penalty kick -- from Sam Edge.

Mount Greylock (2-2-1) hosts Wahconah on Monday night.
