WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Oscar Low made six saves to earn the shutout in goal Monday as the Mount Greylock boys soccer team defeated Amherst, 1-0.

Finn Welch scored with an assist from William Starenko in the 67th minute to break a scoreless tie.

Starenko intercepted a pass in the defensive third and sent long ball over the top.

Welch outran a Hurricane defender and split the defender and the keeper at the top of the 18, sending the ball toward the goal, where it hit the post. Welch then ran down his own rebound and finished for his team-leading 18th goal.

Mount Greylock (8-1-1) qualified for the Western Massachusetts Division 3 tournament with the win. It hosts Monument Mountain on Thursday.
