PITTSFIELD, Mass. – The Pittsfield boys’ soccer team had the complete package Tuesday evening in its first win of the season against Wahconah at Berkshire Community College.

Pittsfield (1-1-2) dominated Wahconah on both the offensive and defensive sides of the game. The Generals played the ball to feet and were able to find open space in Wahconah’s defense to produce their two goals for the win.

Jackson Rich opened the scoring 5 minutes into the first half, after beating a Wahconah defender and hitting the ball low and to the corner. Louis Higuera earned the assist.

Their next goal came at 14:09 off a corner kick from Mike Holmes. Shane Tierney dove for the ball and headed it into the back of the net.

Pittsfield was up 2-0 at half and that’s the score that remained.

Wahconah came out eager in the second half; and had some opportunities, but Pittsfield’s defense would not let down.

We have a complete team through and through,” Pittsfield’s coach said. “We’re coming off of two tough ties and loss, but tonight it was nice to come out and put it away.”

Pittsfield’s coach believes that it hasn't quite shown its best yet, and he hopes to next Tuesday in the Generals' match against Mount Greylock. Wahconah will take on Cathedral Saturday.
