LENOX, Mass. -- Alex Webb scored in the 10th minute, and the Minnechaug boys soccer team held on for a 1-0 win over Lenox on Monday.

Jacob Munch stopped eight shots for the Millionaires against the 2016 Western Massachusetts D1 finalists.

"This was a very good result for us," Lenox coach Matt Cote said. "Chaug is very tough -- fast and skillful at every position. Knowing that they beat PHS earlier this season, we expected them to be very good, and they were.  They outplayed us for much of the game, but Jacob played big, making some very good saves.

"We had one good scoring chance in the second half on a corner kick, where the ball arguably crossed the goal line, but it was called off.  We are pleased with the result, as we are down four players due to injuries. It will be good to have everyone healthy again, hopefully within the next two weeks, as we move toward tournament time."

Lenox (4-6-1) hosts Sabis on Wednesday.
