PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Monument Mountain started the season strong with an impressive win at Pittsfield 2-0. The Spartan's defense was smothering and did not allow Pittsfield many offensive opportunities. Eitan Kii and Bobby Kinne anchored the Spartan's defense while Aaron House was credited with a shut out in goal.
Monument carried the play for most of the first half but were not able to score until Nick Masiero took a pass from Ace McAlister in the 34th minute and put it past the Generals' goal keeper. Masiero scored again just two minutes later, again assisted by McAlister. Monument fired off 11 shots to the Generals' five.
The Spartan's were playing short handed due to illnesses and injuries. Monument travels to Lee on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 4 p.m.
