CHICOPEE, Mass. -- Shannon Finnegan scored twice and assisted on a third goal Monday to lead the Lee girls soccer team to a 3-1 win over Pope Francis.

Finnegan gave the Wildcats a lead in the 13th minute, but the Cardinals tied it early in the second half.

“We played to win especially after they tied it up,” Lee coach Lauren Finnegan said. “The girls knew it was a must win game for us and they turned it up in the second half.”

Shannon Finnegan set up Hadley Devarennes for the game-winner eight minutes after Pope Francis tied it, and Finnegan added an insurance goal with an assist from Ann Macchi.

Brianna Hawley made 12 saves to earn the win in goal.

Lee (8-8) goes to Commerce on Wednesday.
