LENOX, Mass. -- The Lenox girls soccer team scored three goals in a five-minute stretch of the second half Tuesday to earn a 4-0 win over Drury.

Julie Pehlert scored with an assist from Abby Schilling in the first three minutes to give the Millionaires a 1-0 advantage.

“After getting the opening goal early on, Drury played a very strong defensive game, keeping good defensive shape and numbers behind the ball,” Lenox coach Kyle Zinchuk said. “They did a good job of congesting the middle of the field which made it difficult for us to find good looks in that area.

“At halftime I challenged our girls to pick up our speed of play and intensity and I think they responded well.”

Nicole Gamberoni, Schilling and Shelby Lynch scored second-half goals starting in the 60th minute.

Sophie Patella and Julianne Harwood combined to make three saves for the win.

“I thought our defense, led by our center backs Zenani Santos and Kat Nichols, did well to limit Drury's chances offensively, and our midfielders Nicole Gamberoni and Kristin Parkinson made great contributions in keeping possession and distributing the ball,” Zinchuk said.

Alyssa Russell stopped 17 shots for Drury (1-2), which goes to Adams for a rematch against Hoosac Valley on Thursday evening.

Lenox (2-1) goes to Berkshire Community College to play Pittsfield on Wednesday.
