NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The McCann Tech girls soccer team defeated Franklin Tech Tuesday afternoon, 4-0, to run its record to  8-2-1.

The Hornets opened the scoring five minutes into the game and it came from the duo of Allie Gibeau and Aimee Dowling.

Gibeau found Dowling open inside the 18, Dowling received the pass and turned and put the ball on net.

With 9 minutes, 43 seconds on the clock a penalty was called on Franklin Tech inside the box; Jordan Budaj set up for the penalty kick, but Franklin Tech goalie's dove for the save.

But Dowling -- set up on the 18 -- charged into the box and got the rebound, putting it back on net to put them ahead 2-0.

Just before half-time with less than three minutes to go, McCann extended its lead to 3-0. Monique Martel received the ball inside the 18 and dropped it back to Jordan Reinhardt who sent the ball from just outside the 18 into the net.

"They [Dowling, Gibeau, Martel] work well together, when they can recognize each other they really click," McCann Tech coach Mike Dowling said. "They move the ball up the field really nice and Aimee if she's in the right space at the right time after those two move it up the field she benefits from it."

McCann spread the field better in the second half, as they favored the right side of the field in the first. Although they added three goals in the first to their one in the second, they were able to move the ball better up the field and get some better opportunities on net.

"When we were carrying the ball up we were automatically going to that side and then there was like eight people in the middle," Dowling said. "So we tried to switch the fields and tried to go the other way and we got a goal in the second half."

Their second half goal came from Martel at the 17-minute mark. She carried the ball into the box and sent it to the far corner, giving the Hornets a 4-0 lead where the score remained.

McCann plays Commerce on Friday. The Hornets won their first meeting, 8-1. Next week they face a tough schedule against Putnam who has one loss in the Tri-County league and Smith Voc who also has one loss in their league.
