SHEFFIELD, Mass. -- Ann Macchi scored two goals Monday to lead the Lee girls soccer team to a 3-1 win over Mount Everett.

The Eagles (0-2) struck first when Logan Rathbun set up Lauren Edwards midway through the first half.

But five minutes later, Lee’s Hadley DeVarennes scored on an assist from Hannah Simmons.

Early in the second half, Simmons set up Macchi for the go-ahead goal, and Macchi added a penalty kick goal with about 10 minutes left to provide some insurance.

“It was a definite improvement from Friday,” Mount Everett coach Jessica Murtagh said, referring to the Eagles’ 4-0 season-opening loss to Lenox. “We still need to work on getting into shape and staying healthy. We worked harder generating offense, but we still need to work on it.”

Madison Ullrich made 11 saves in the Mount Everett goal.

Brianna Hawley made 13 saves for Lee (1-1), which goes to Duggan on Friday.
