SHEFFIELD, Mass. -- Abigail Heath scored in the 76th minute to break a 1-1 tie and send the Mount Everett girls soccer team to a 2-1 win over Taconic on Wednesday.

“Very close game with good physical play from both teams,” Mount Everett coach Jessica Murtagh said. “My team played extremely well, especially in the second half. We just couldn’t convert and get the ball in the net.”

Taconic (2-4) took the lead midway through the first half when Kendra Buda scored an unassisted goal. But two minutes later, Hannah Steuernagle tied it for the Eagles.

That is where it stood until the final four minutes, when Anna Bongini set up Heath for the game-winner.

Leeyia Hoose stopped seven shots to earn the win in goal.

Madison Ullrich had 13 saves for Mount Everett (1-3), which hosts Mount Greylock on Monday.

Taconic goes to McCann Tech on Tuesday.
