CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Olivia Bresett scored two goals, including the game-winner in the 78th minute, to lead the Hoosac Valley girls soccer team to a 4-3, come-from-behind victory over Amherst on Monday afternoon.

Hoosac (2-1) was down, 3-0, at half-time to the visiting Hurricanes.

“I could tell they were not happy with the score,” Hoosac coach Kathy Budaj said. “In the first half we were not shooting the ball and the few shots we took were not quality looks.

“We came out strong and I kept saying one goal at a time, keep working hard. I have to say that
I think everyone left it on the field today and I am so happy for them.”

Ellie Field got the Hoosac ‘Canes on the board with a goal in the 45th minute. In the middle stages of the second half. Bresett converted a penalty kick to get the hosts within a goal.

Madison Vigna set up Carah Cote for the tying goal in the 74th minute, and four minutes later, Vigna fed Bresset for the game-winner.

Kailynn Frederick made six saves for Hoosac Valley, which travels to Pittsfield to face Taconic on Wednesday.
