READING, Mass. -- Dani Rick scored her second goal of the game on a penalty kick in the 78th minute to give Austin Prep a 2-1 win over the Hoosac Valley girls soccer team on Monday evening.

All three goals were scored in the second half after each team’s defense dominated the first 40 minutes.

“Tonight we started off slow down there,” Hoosac coach Kathy Budaj said. “Our defense played fantastic and our goalie Kelsey Bulson [11 saves] did a nice job. We were struggling to generate offense on the turf field.”

Austin Prep broke through with a goal in the 61st minute, but Hoosac responded when Alie Mendel scored with help from Claudia Bresett and Ashley Meczywor.
