CHESHIRE, Mass. -- The Belchertown girls soccer team scored in the 73rd minute Friday to earn a 1-1 tie at Hoosac Valley.

Shaleigh Levesque gave the Hurricanes a lead with a goal in the fifth minute, cashing in on an assist from Ashlee Meczywor.

It stayed 1-0 until Belchertown’s Sonia Dugger slipped one past Hoosac keeper Grace Kronick, who made five saves in the stalemate.

“Both teams had strong offensive chances, we hit the post but could not get the game winner in,” Hoosac Valley coach Kathy Budaj said. “We have been working on certain aspects of the game and I was happy to see that we are moving in the right direction.”

Hoosac Valley (4-2-4) hosts Monument Mountain on Tuesday.
