CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Alie Mendel scored twice, and Grace Kronick stopped four shots to lead the Hoosac Valley girls soccer team to a 4-0 win over Pittsfield on Friday.

“It was so nice for us to get into the win column tonight,” Hoosac Valley coach Kathy Budaj said. “The girls had expressed that we have had a lot of ties and wanted a solid win. We have been talking about doing the little things and the big things will come and tonight they did. Grace did a solid job in goal for the team.”

The Hurricanes (5-2-5) came into the game off of three straight ties. They have lost just once in their last 10 games.

Mia Gale scored the game-winner in the 14th minute. Ellie Field scored the game’s final goal with an assist from Shaleigh Levesque.

Hayley Tobin had two saves for Pittsfield (3-9-3), which hosts Mount Greylock on Tuesday.

Hoosac Valley goes to Swampscott on Saturday.
