WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Leah Majumder and Caroline Flynn scored to lead the Mount Greylock girls soccer team to a 2-1 win over Bennington, Vt.'s, Mount Anthony on Wednesday.

Majumder got the scoring going midway through the first half with an unassisted tally. Fewer than two minutes later, Melissa Swann set up Flynn for the insurance goal.

Mount Anthony cut the lead in half early in the second half with a goal by Kathryn Frasier.

But the Mounties' defense, anchored by Charlotte Rand (two saves) made the lead stand up.

"A  defensive breakdown led to an early second half goal by Mount Anthony," Mount Greylock coach Tom Ostheimer said. "We were able to preserve the lead with strong defensive play."

Mount Greylock (2-1) hosts Pittsfield on Friday.
