SHEFFIELD, Mass. -- Karen McComish scored two goals Monday to lead the Mount Greylock girls soccer team to a 2-0 win over Mount Everett.

Mount Greylock (5-2) was able to solve a determined Eagles defense in the 30th minute when McComish scored unassisted. Midway through the second half, Madison Ross set up McComish for a second goal.

“Despite the score, we played a very good game,” Mount Everett coach Jessica Murtagh said. “We went in with a defensive game plan, and wanting to take this opportunity to really learn and practice our game. The girls played with great effort for all 80 minutes, despite having no subs on the bench.”

Madison Ullrich made 11 saves for Mount Everett (1-6), which goes to Pioneer on Friday.

The Mounties got three saves from the keeping tandem of Delaney Babcock and Isabella Nicastro.

Mount Greylock goes to Lenox on Thursday.
