Two big performances in two big league wins produced this week's two iBerkshires.com/Adams Community Bank Athletes of the Week.

Wahconah senior Allison Washburn scored three times and assisted on a fourth goal in a 4-1 win over Mount Greylock on Thursday.

Her second goal, which proved to be the difference, came when she crashed the net and put back the rebound of a shot from the top of the 18.

"This season, we've been working on that," Washburn said. "The last few games, we definitely had opportunities we've missed when we don't follow the shots. So, I figured, just follow it, try my best.

"I got it that time. So it was lucky. But we've just learned to always follow the shots."

Wahconah's girls had been tested with early season non-league games, including a date with D1 powerhouse West Springfield. But Thursday's game was its first in the Berkshire County North Division. It goes right back into league play on Monday at home against a Hoosac Valley team hungry for its first win in the division.

Berkshire County high school golf teams dive right into league play with few opportunities to go out of conference in a season that wraps up in mid-October.

Two of the most competitive matches we're likely to see already have been played, and they have been battles between Hoosac Valley and Mount Greylock.

After the Hurricanes won the opener at Forest Park, the Mounties came back on Thursday at Waubkeeka and salvaged the split with a one-stroke win.

Ben Gilooly finished at 39 in the win, tying Hoosac Valley's Henry Sniezek for medalist honors.

Gilooly then came back the next day and grinded out a 47 that helped lift the Mounties to victory over Monument Mountain.
