Blanchard Scores Twice to Lift Monument Girls at Monson

MONSON, Mass. -- Aubrey Blanchard broke a scoreless tie in the 67th minute and added an insurance goal seven minutes later to lift the Monument Mountain girls soccer team to a 2-0 win over Monson on Monday.

 

“Monson played a great game,” Spartans coach Jess Platt said. “It took a lot of composure on our part to sneak those goals through their back line.”

 

Gabi DeFelice set up Blanchard’s game-winner. Meri Powell had an assist on the second goal.

 

Helen Pajeski stopped three shots to earn the shutout win.

 

Monument Mountain (7-0) goes to Wahconah on Wednesday.
