Taconic, Pittsfield Announce Fall Coaching Vacancies

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Pittsfield Public Schools are seeking applicants for two coaching positions for fall 2020.
 
Positions include the head varsity girls soccer coach at Taconic High School and an assistant cross country running coach for the girls team at Pittsfield High School.

Girls Soccer
Taconic High School is seeking applicants for the position of head varsity girls soccer coach for the 2020-21 school year.  Candidates should have relevant background in the sport, excellent communications skills, and a philosophy consistent with the mission and goals of the school.  
 
Candidate will be responsible for providing leadership to a re-building program. Ability to teach fundamental soccer techniques, playing rules, and game strategies is required.  
 
Candidate should have the ability to convey messages of sportsmanship, work ethic, and commitment to one’s team.  
 
Responsibilities include coordinating assistant and Junior Varsity coaching staff, overseeing booster club initiatives, and managing equipment inventory. 
 
The ability to successfully recruit prospective players enrolled at Taconic, increase soccer program participation levels, and generate enthusiasm and interest within the program are key characteristics required of candidates for this position.  
 
Additional responsibilities of the position include conducting well-organized practices and completing MIAA required coaching workshops.
 
The season runs from late August through early November.   
 
Experience as a head coach at the high school level is preferred, but not required.  
Bachelors degree preferred. Salary ranges from $3,500-$4,500. Application process closes on Monday, March 16, 2020
 
Girls Cross Country
Pittsfield High School is seeking applicants for assistant cross-country running coach for the Fall 2020 season. This is a paid position.
 
The assistant cross country running coaches are responsible for aiding the head coaches with organizing the respective boys and girls Cross-Country programs. Essential duties include: supervising the student-athletes during practices and competitions, instructing the student-athletes in rules, regulations, and techniques of the sport, supporting tasks associated with administrative duties (eligibility forms, physical exam documents, emergency information, etc), and assisting with meet management and strategy.
 
Candidates will be responsible for providing leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student-athletes. Ability to teach fundamental distance running techniques that challenge the physical, mental, and personal abilities of student-athletes is required.  
 
Candidates should also have the ability to convey messages of sportsmanship, work ethic, and responsibility to one’s team. 
 
Additional responsibilities include complying with MIAA rules and completing MIAA required coaching workshop. 
 
Experience as coach at the high school level is preferred, but not required.  Season runs from late August through early November.   Application deadline is May 15, 2020
