Wahconah's Boys, Girls Earn Track and Field Wins

CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Victoria Gamberoni won the mile, 800 meters and 2-mile run Monday to lead the Wahconah girls track and field team to a 91-45 win over Hoosac Valley.
 
Gamberoni won the mile in 5 minutes, 38.32 seconds before posting times of 2:37.64 in the 800 and 12:23.11 in the 2-mile.
 
Wahconah also got a pair of wins from Hailey Pickard in the field events. She put the shot 26 feet, 2 inches and leapt 13 feet, 1-¼ inches in the long jump.
 
Hoosac Valley’s girls defeated Drury in their dual meet, 77-51. Kayla Garabedian won the 100 hurdles (18.16 seconds) and 400 hurdles (1:15.02).
 
Drury’s Laura Thomas won the discus in both her team’s dual meets with a throw of 75-0.
 
In the boys’ three-way meet, the closest battle was between Hoosac Valley and Drury with the Hurricanes prevailing, 71-57.
 
Travis Dozier won the long jump (17-4-¾) and the high jump (5-6) in the dual meet win.
 
Wahconah’s boys posted a pair of wins, beating Hoosac Valley, 95-31, and Drury, 111-18.
 
Matt Lighten won the 100 meters (10.91) and the 200 for Wahconah.
 
Drury’s Caleb Besaw was a double-winner, taking first in the mile (5:19.40) and 2-mile (12:28.22).
