GREAT BARRINGTON — The Drury High School bowling team showed it has a flair for the dramatic.

And a whole lot of ability.

The Blue Devils captured their third straight state championship on Saturday at the Cove Lanes with a pair of come-from-behind wins.

Drury rolled to a third-place spot in the standings in the preliminary (total pinfall) round, then it fell behind Lee in the best-of-three games match-play semi-finals.

The Devils came back to win the next two games and advance to the state championship, best-of-three match against Taconic.

Again, Drury started with a loss in Game 1 but came back to take the next two and a state crown.

On Sunday, the team headed back to South County for the state individuals meet.

Tyler Cote and Kayla Field each finished second in the commonwealth.

"Ty was lights out all day," Drury coach Steve Cote said. "He lost some carry late in the final match and lost by two pins. It was a heartbreaker.

"Kayla came out on fire and put up a great fight but seemed to lose the shot in the finals."

Senior Tyler Cote and junior Field both roll on Drury's Blue Devils squad, one of two teams that competes for the club program. Other members of the Blue Devils are seniors Jake Boillat and Matt Vachereau, freshman Zach Yeaton and eighth-grader Nick Johnson.
