Drury's Meehan, Monument's Phair Victorious at Wahconah Meet

DALTON, Mass. -- Drury’s Connor Meehan clocked a time of 17 minutes, 18 seconds Wednesday to win the boys cross country race at Wahconah.
 
Meehan set a mile pace of 5:34 and finished 39 seconds ahead of runner-up Ryan Serre of Taconic.
 
Serre was joined in the top 10 by four of his teammates at the meet, which saw six teams in action.
 
Trevor Pelkey, Zabion Powell, Brandon Pelkey and Gabe Carrington each finished in the top 10.
 
Monument Mountain was led by Jared Henry with a third-place finish, and teammate Nick Gray was ninth. Host Wahconah got a seventh place showing by Dan Brainerd. Mount Everett freshman Grayson Duvall rounded out the top 10, finishing 10th. Hoosac Valley was led by Aaron McAdoo in 33rd place.
 
On the girls side, Monument’s Grace Phair outkicked Wahconah’s Danielle and Gabrielle Orlando to finish first.
 
Phair finished in 20:25. Danielle Orlando was second in 20:47 with Gabrielle in third at 20:53.
 
Monument’s Meryl Phair was fourth (21:13), and the Spartans took the next two places as well with Maeven Broderick and Jasmin Johannsdottir placing in the top six.
 
Katerina Bruce was seventh for the hosts followed by three Hoosac runners to round out the top 10: Jamie Barth, Nataya Cilli and Paige Barrow.
 
Girls team scores: Monument Mountain 25-Wahconah 30; Monument Mountain 15-Drury 46; Hoosac Valley 27-Taconic 30; Taconic 15-Mount Everett 50; Wahconah 15-Taconic 44; Drury 18-Mount Everett 37.
 
Boys team scores: Wahconah 15-Drury DNS; Monument 15-Drury DNS; Wahconah 15-Hoosac Valley 42; Taconic 15-Mount Everett 47; Mount Everett 15-Drury DNS.
