Meehan, Jourdain Win Berkshire County Individuals Meet

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Drury’s Connor Meehan edged Mount Greylock’s Jacob Fink to win the boys title at the Berkshire County Individuals Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Berkshire Community College.
 
Meehan finished in 16 minutes, 30 seconds, five seconds ahead of the Mount Greylock sophomore.
 
Fink had the better of it in the team standings, though. His second place finish anchored Mount Greylock to a team victory with 26 points, finishing well ahead of runner-up Pittsfield, which garnered 52 points.
 
On the girls side, Lenox senior Emma Jourdain led a sweep of the top four places for the Millionaires.
 
Jourdain clocked a time of 19:03, finishing well ahead of teammate and eighth-grader Ellen Huth (19:42). Alicy Najimy (19:45) and Maggie Sorrentino (19:52) finished third and fourth for Lenox.
 
The top non-Millionaire on the girls side was Monument Mountain’s Grace Phair, who placed fifth with a time of 19:58.
 
Mount Greylock’s Margo Smith (20:09) and Alice Glab (20:20) were fifth and sixth, respectively, followed by Wahconah twins Danielle and Gabrielle Orlando, who finished within a second of one another at 20:32.
 
Not surprisingly, Lenox easily won the team title with 24 points ahead of Mount Greylock’s 54.
 
The top finisher for Pittsfield’s girls was Lessley Columna (20:43) in 13th place. Lee High eighth-grader Amber MacDowell (21:19) finished 17th, and Hoosac Valley’s Jamie Barthe (21:29) cracked the top 20, finishing 19th.
 
In the boys race, Mount Greylock placed four runners in the top 10.
 
After Fink in second came the Mounties Jesse Seid (17:09) in fourth, Sam Culver (17:12) in fifth and Josh Cheung (17:23) in ninth.
 
Pittsfield placed three boys in the top 10 with third-place Lucas Godwin (17:09) leading the way. He was backed up by Paul Wales (17:13) in sixth and Greg Fournier (17:24) in 10th
 
Taconic, which placed third in the team standings, was paced by Ryan Serre (17:17) and Jake Paris (17:18) in seventh and eighth, respectively.
 
Lenox was led by eighth-grader Ted Yee (17:54) in 13th place and junior Ryan Silverstein (17:54) in 14th. Wahconah’s top finisher was Chris Campos (17:58) in 16th.
