Vallone Leads McCann Tech Bowlers Past Drury

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- Brandon Vallone rolled a 423 series, and Chris Bostwick and Austin Davine provided needed points for the McCann Tech bowling team in an 18-13 win over Drury on Friday at Cove Lanes.
 
Vallone’s series included McCann’s high game of the day, a 225 in the first match, which saw the Hornets build an 11-0 lead in the battle of the Berkshire County League’s top two teams.
 
In the second match, Drury roared back behind a  247 from Zach Yeaton to cut the deficit to eight points, 15-7. McCann’s only points of the second match were a pair of wins from Bostwick (221-134-355) and Davine (190-212--402).
 
That sent the team match to the Baker games, where Drury won the first two alternate-bowler format games by scores of 254-210 and 196-213 to make it a 15-13 game going to the final Baker game. McCann Tech prevailed there, 234-213, to take the final three points of the match and the win.
 
Zeaton finished with a 429 series. Alli Brassard rolled a 214 game and a 404 series for the Blue Devils.
 
Prior to Friday’s matches, Yeaton was announced as the de facto Berkshire County Bowling League MVP after garnering the most votes from the league’s coaches for the All-Star team.
 
Joining him on that squad are Monument Mountain’s Tom Hankey Jr., Pittsfield’s A.J. Moore, Vallone, Taconic’s Lynsey Aldam and Lee’s Zach Reynolds.
 
Reynolds also was named winner of the league’s Pete Snyder Sportsmanship Award.
 
The county league recognized all of its graduating seniors in in a pre-meet ceremony.
 
The league championship is scheduled for March 3 at Ken’s Bowl in Pittsfield.
 
Pittsfield's Chris Kordana had the best game by any individual on Friday afternoon, rolling a 262 in leading the Generals to a 27-4 win over Lee.
 
Aldam had a 256 for Taconic as it survived Wahconah, 17-14. And the Lee Black's Jarrett Dohn had a 285 series to lead his team to an 18-13 win over Mount Everett.
 
In Friday's closest match, Monument Mountain edged Mount Greylock, 16-15 behind a 427 series from Hankey. Taylor Callahan rolled a 205 for the Mounties.
 
Mount Greylock will meet Taconic and Pittsfield will face Monument Mountain in the March 3 quarter-finals in Pittsfield.
 
The winners of those two matches will take on McCann and Drury, respectively, in the semis.
