Derwitsch Breakway Goal Gives Mount Everett Icers Win

NORTHFORD, Conn. -- Adam Derwitsch scored an unassisted goal with 18 seconds left to lift the Mount Everett hockey team to a 2-1 win over Lyman Hall on Saturday.
 
The Eagles fell behind 1-0 after one period but tied it in the second when Jacob Malicky set up Jake Corcoran.
 
Jonah Swotes made 20 saves for Mount Everett, which outshot its hosts by a margin of 28-21.
 
"It was a hard fought game by both teams with each goalie keeping the game close," Mount Everett coach Aidan Gilligan said. "Mount Everett senior Adam Derwitsch scored on a breakaway with 18 seconds left in regulation to give Mount Everett the lead.
 
"It was a good team effort by Mount Everett and the biggest goal of Adam's high school career."
 
Mount Everett hosts Taconic on Saturday at the Berkshire School.
