Mount Everett Icers Fall at Home

SHEFFIELD, Mass. — The Newtown, Conn., hockey team scored four second-period goals to take a 5-0 lead and held on for a 6-2 win over Mount Everett on Friday night at the Berkshire School
 
Brendan Dempsey and Jake Corcoran each had a goal and an assist for the Eagles, who got assists from Matt DiSilva and Max Joyner.
 
“We played a very competitive first period, and the shots were 15-13,” Mount Everett coach Aidan Gilligan said. “Then we just started the second period a little flat, and they capitalized.”
 
Jonah Swotes made 42 saves for Mount Everett, who travels to play Amherst on Feb. 20.
