Monument's Field Finishes Sixth at All-State Wrestling Meet

DANVERS, Mass. -- Monument Mountain's John Field placed sixth in commonwealth at 170 pounds in this weekend's MIAA Wrestling All-State Championships.
 
Field went 4-3 on the weekend, bowing to Braintree's Anders Klaas, 10-1, in their fifth-place bout in the consolation bracket.
 
Field started his day Saturday by pinning Lincoln-Sudbury's Kyrie Williams at the 3 minute, 49 second mark of their bout.
 
Field then dropped a 12-4 decision to Framingham's Dylan O'Brien to fall into the fifth-place bout.
 
Saturday started with two Berkshire County wrestlers alive in the consys.
 
Taconic's Zabion Powell lost two decisions at 145 on Saturday to place eighth in the competition, which brings together the top wrestlers from all three classifications.
 
Powell first lost an 8-4 decision to Greater Lowell's David McKay. Then Haverhill's Nick Tejada took a narrow a 4-3 decision from the Taconic grappler.
 
Monument Mountain ended up in 45th place out of 99 teams who scored at the all-state meet. Taconic finished tied for 54th place, 3.5 points behind its Berkshire County rival.
 
Chelmsford won the team competition with 87.5 points. Springfield Central was second with 81 points.
