Cilli, Barthe Lead Hoosac Valley Girls Cross Country to Win

DALTON, Mass. -- Natiya Cilli and Jamie Barthe Thursday led the Hoosac Valley girls cross country team to a 27-28 win over Lee at Wahconah.
 
Cilli, a senior, crossed the finish line in 22 minutes, 37.28 seconds to place ninth, just ahead of teammate and classmate Barthe (22:40.07).
 
The girls race was won by Monument Mountain senior Grace Phair, who finished in 19:42.47, 25 seconds ahead of runner-up Haley Crosier of Wahconah.
 
Pittsfield's Cami Diehl placed third in 20:57.02.
 
In addition to the one-point margin in the Hoosac Valley-Lee dual meet, Wahconah edged Pittsfield by three points in their dual thanks to Crosier, Gabby Orlando and Danni Orlando, who each finished in the top six.
 
Monument Mountain's boys also placed three runners in the top six, led by individual winner sophomore Peter Larochelle, who came home in 17:36.78. He was joined in the top 10 by teammates Keegan Leach, Kevin Robertson and Diego Salinetti.
 
Wahconah's P.J. Pharmer finished second in 17:55.22. Pittsfield was led by Anthony Hunt (18:28.27) in third place. Lee's Sebastian Dowd-Smith (18:34.93) was fifth.
 
Justin Levesque of Hoosac Valley finished in 21st place in a time of 20:13.03.
