Wahconah Bowlers Win State Title

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- The Wahconah bowling team Saturday won a state championship at Cove Lanes, the seventh year in a row the title has gone to a Berkshire County squad.
 
A year after winning the B Division title, Wahconah moved into the A Division and took home the top prize, following in the footsteps of five-time champion Drury and 2017 state champ McCann Tech.
 
The Hornets finished third on Saturday while Monument Mountain placed fourth.
 
In the B Division, Mount Everett finished second behind divisional champ Sabis.
 
On Sunday, the individual championships were held at Cove Lanes, and Monument Mountain's Tom Hankey Jr. rolled games of 276 and 234 to take the boys championship.
 
McCann Tech's Brandon Vallone and Wahconah's Alex White placed second and third, respectively.
 
2017 girls champion Lynsey Aldam of Taconic finished second on Sunday behind Worcester Tech's Lexia Stolaski. McCann Tech's Aleasia Yeaton finished third.
 
Brandon Vallone of McCann Tech was the top individual in Sunday morning's qualifier with a total of 1,022 pins, putting him 39 pins ahead of the field.
 
Hankey, who qualified second for the step ladder finals, defeated Wahconah's Alex White in their match, 239-203.
 
Hankey moved on to face Vallone in the championship match, and the Spartan rolled a 278 to win by 44 pins.
 
Hankey, Vallone and White were named to the all-tournament team along with Central's Brierre Mutti, who rolled the day's high game with a 289, and Worcester Tech's Ryan Stolaski and Paul West Jr.
