Will Nolan
Mount Greylock

No. 3 has been No. 1 this season in the Berkshire County Nordic ski league. Mount Greylock senior Will Nolan (who wears bib No. 3) has won the first three races on the high school circuit — last week by a comfortable 22-second margin over one of his teammates.

He has led the Mounties to three straight team victories, which is the norm for a program that has won the last four state cross country ski titles. Last winter at Notchview Reservation, Nolan was the first Mountie across the finish line with the fourth fastest time in the state.

Peyton Steinman
Pittsfield

Pittsfield High sophomore Peyton Steinman is one of the most dangerous scorers in Western Massachusetts, averaging 18.4 points per game. She also leads the Generals in assists (4.9 per game) and is one of the team's top rebounders (5 rpg).

After helping lead Pittsfield to the Cage last winter as a freshman, the young General has her team at 8-2 at the midway point this year. On Wednesday, she scored 19 points in a win over Drury but had just two of those in the second half, when Pittsfield relied heavily on its bench to protect a big lead.

iBerkshires Sports and Capital Region Honda Dealers, including Bedard Honda in Cheshire, will be spotlighting two Berkshire County high school athletes each week, a boy and a girl, who best excelled in their sport or boosted their teams' efforts.
