WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Nyein Soe overcame a first-set loss to win at No. 1 singles and lead the Mount Greylock boys tennis team to a 5-0 win over Mount Everett on Friday.

Soe edged the Eagles' Jacob Malicky, 5-7, 6-3, 6-2.

"Nyein again started off slow but eventually found his game," Mounties coach Stephen Bryant said. "He did have to battle hard to clinch that third set. Both players put all they had in that final set."

Mount Greylock also got singles wins from Will Nolan at No. 2 and Josh Narey at No. 3. Narey beat Mount Everett's Patrick Hogelin, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

"Josh had some trouble controlling his second set, but once he relaxed he closed his match out smoothly," Bryant said. "This was Josh's second time playing at third singles so I expected him to have some nerves."

In doubles, the Mounties got straight-set wins from the tandems of Jake Foehl/Gray Kaegi and Matt Wiseman/Brady Foehl.
