Mounties' Pelletier Second, Two Taconic Wrestlers Third at State Meet

WAKEFIELD, Mass. -- Isiah Williams and Zabion Powell each placed third in his weight class Saturday to lead the Taconic wrestling team to a 19th place finish at the Massachusetts Division 3 Championships.
 
The two Taconic wrestlers won their consolation finals to claim the bronze.
 
Berkshire County’s lone representative in the championship finals, Mount Greylock’s Devin Pelletier, dropped a 7-0 decision to Danvers’ Quintin Holland in the 170-pound final.
 
Earlier on Saturday, Pelletier pinned Dedham’s Brandon Reyes at the end of the first period of their semi-final.
 
Pelletier’s points on Saturday helped the Mounties finish 22nd in the 55-team field.
 
Taconic’s Williams defeated Mount Greylock’s Jude Rorke in the 152-pound third-place match by a score of 6-2. Williams advanced to the consy final earlier Saturday by beating Holliston’s Eli Goldbarb, 5-0.
 
At 132, Taconic’s Powell defeated Ashland’s Michael Crupi, 7-5, in the consolation final after beating Canton’s Anis Chakir for the second time in the meet. Powell beat Chakir, 4-0, on Friday and topped him again, 12-8, in the consolation semis.
 
The team title at Wakefield High School went to Melrose, which amassed 149 points to easily outdistance second-place Foxboro (127).
 
The Monument Mountain Spartans finished in 25th place behind Nate Cormier, who finished third at 145 pounds after finishing his weekend with an 8-5 win over Hampden Charter’s Khalis Kasimov in the consolation final.
 
Mount Everett’s Anthony Lupiani represented the Eagles with a seventh-place finish at 113. He won his last match of the weekend, beating Canton’s Justin Dickie, 13-2.
