GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- Tenley Smith carded a 41 Friday at Egremont Country Club to earn medalist honors and lead the Mount Greylock golf team to a 177-205 win over Mount Everett.

“That was the first time she won medalist in her career,” Mount Greylock coach Mitchell Spooner said. “We were really happy for her.

“Honestly, the ladies tees weren’t even that much of an advantage on that course. It’s a long course for the women. She just played phenomenally.”

Ben Gilooly carded a 43 in a round highlighted by a birdie on the 497-yard, par-5 fifth hole, and Braden Smith (46) and Bennett Zimmerman (47) rounded out the scoring for the Mounties (2-1).

Kolby Bleau led Mount Everett with a 49. He was followed closely by teammate Cooper Rothvoss (50). Tucker Wilkinson and Luke Bleau each finished at 53 for the Eagles.

After playing three matches in the opening week of the season, Mount Greylock is off until Thursday when it goes to Monument Mountain.

“It will be good to get out there and practice,” Spooner said. “We’ll have a chance to work on some of the things the guys are talking to me about on the bus.”

Mount Everett hosts Drury on Thursday.
