Hankey Starts Strong for Monument Mountain Bowling

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Monument Mountain's Tom Hankey had a standout day at Ken's Bowl to help the Spartans earn a 15.5-15.5 tie against Pittsfield in Friday's season opener.
 
Hankey had the top two games of the day in the league, rolling a 256 and a 253.
 
But Pittsfield was able to keep pace with Monument in the team competition behind a 246-238 performance from A.J. Moore. Moore had the third- and fifth-best games rolled on the afternoon.
 
Four of the five matches on opening day were nail-biters with Wahconah beating Taconic, 18-13, and the Lee Black squad beating Mount Everett, 18-13.
 
Lee's other team dropped a 19-12 decision to Mount Everett, which got games of 135 and 158 from Tucker Wilkinson.
 
McCann Tech had a relatively comfortable 24-7 win over Drury with Brandon Vallone posting games of 221 and 213. Kalley Vanuni, with a 218, had the day's best game among the girls.
 
The best series on the girls' side belonged to Taconic's Lynsey Aldam, who rolled a 407 (213).
 
The Berkshire County League goes to Cove Lanes on Friday.
