Taconic's Paris, Monument's Phair Lead Teams to Victories at BCC

PITTSFIELD Mass. -- Tacconic’s Jacob Paris and Monument Mountain’s Grace Phair were the top runners in Wednesday’s cross country race at Berkshire Community College.
 
Paris and host Taconic picked up a pair of dual meet wins, defeating Monument and Lee by scores of 19-44 and 15-50, respectively.
 
Paris led the field with a time of 16 minutes, 24 seconds, outpacing a pair of Pittsfield high runners, Paul Wales (16:35) and Amin Purry, who placed second and third, respectively.
 
Taconic placed four runners in the top 10, with Chris Adams in fifth and Zabion Powell and Brandon Pelkey in seventh and eighth respectively.
 
Monument Mountain’s top finisher was Peter LaRochelle, who placed fourth with a time of 17:24. Lee was led by Evan Heath, a 20th-place finisher with a time of 19:00. Hoosac Valley had one finisher, eighth-grader Justin Levesque, who clocked a time of 21:43.
 
In the girls race, Phair led a 1-2 sweep for the Spartans with a time of 19:19, 29 seconds ahead of teammate Jasmin Johannsdottir.
 
Monument Mountain also got top 10 finishes from Hannah Flynn and Sydni Viola in fifth and 10th places as the Spartans got dual wins over Taconic and PIttsfield.
 
Taconic’s Mary Hayes (20:16) was third, while Pittsfield’s Cameron Diehl (21:17) placed fourth.
 
Hoosac Valley’s Jamie Barthe (22:40) finished 14th. Lee was led by Olivia Johnson, who finished 24th in 23:35.
 
Boys team scores: Lee 15, Hoosac Valley no score; Pittsfield 15, Hoosac Valley no score; Taconic 19, Monument Mountain 44; Pittsfield 21, Monument Mountain 34; Taconic 15, Lee 50.
 
Girls team scores: Hoosac Valley 18, Lee 43; Taconic 15, Lee 50; Pittsfield 16, Hoosac Valley
44; Monument Mountain 23, Taconic 32; Monument Mountain 23, Pittsfield 32; Taconic 17, Hoosac Valley 44.
