PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- David Mansfield and Max Whalen came from behind for a three-set win at second doubles to help the Pittsfield boys tennis team secure a 4-1 win over Mount Everett on Monday.

“Mount Everett put up a good fight against a Pittsfield team who sat their first three singles players,” Pittsfield coach Dan Sullivan said. “Third singles was the last match out. So for a little while, it looked like it would be split 2-2. Fortunately for the Generals, the pairing of Max Whalen and Dave Mansfield came back to win in three sets at second doubles, clinching the win.

“The last match out was Sabil Kaddoura and Eduardo Rodriguez, and after going down 3-0 in the first set, the senior captain (Kaddoura) for the Generals won 12 straight games to clinch the 4-1 victory.”

Pittsfield (7-1) also got single wins from Noah Beckwith and Cole Masiero at first and second, respectively.

The Eagles earned their point at first doubles, where Gray Duval and Ethan Benoit won, 7-6 (2), 6-3.
