Mount Greylock Boys, Girls Impress at Wahconah Cross Country Meet

DALTON, Mass. -- Mount Greylock's and Pittsfield's boys split the top four spots in Tuesday's cross country race at Wahconah, as the the Mounties and Generals earned dual meet wins.
 
Mounties Sam Culver and Jesse Seid placed first and second, respectively, with times of 16 minutes, 48 seconds and 17:06.
 
In third and fourth were Pittsfield's Paul Wales (17:07) and Amin Purry (17:34).
 
Mount Greylock's boys earned a 15-50 win over Hoosac Valley. Pittsfield defeated Mount Everett and host Wahconah.
 
Mount Greylock placed five runners in the top 10 with Owen Brandriss, Jacob Fink and Jakin Miller placing fifth, sixth and ninth, respectively.
 
Wahconah's boys were led by Nate Rock (18:20) in seventh. Mount Everett's Cole Duval was 11th in 19:03, and Hoosac Valley's Kyle Morehouse placed 49th in 22:29.
 
On the girls side, Mount Greylock earned a pair of dual meet wins over Hoosac Valley and Wahconah as the Mounties swept the top five spots.
 
Freshman Jacqueline Wells led the way with a time of 20:25. She was followed across the finish line by teammates Josephine Smith, Katherine Swann, Hazel Scullin and Margo Smith.
 
Wahcnoah's Daniel Orlando was sixth in 21:29, and Pittsfield's Cameron Diehl was seventh in 21:35 as Wahconah's girls edged the Generals by a margin of 25-30 in their dual meet.
 
Hoosac Valley's Jamie Barthe cracked the top 20 with an 18th-place finish, clocking a time of 23:10. Mount Everett's Carly Duval was 42nd overall in 23:37.
