AMHERST, Mass. -- Tyler Canata’s RBI groundout with one out in the top of the 10th gave the Mount Greylock baseball team a 5-4 win over Amherst-Pelham in the Mounties’ season-opener on Tuesday.

Jack Cangelosi threw 4-⅔ innings of scoreless relief to earn the win after the Hurricanes battled back from deficits of 3-0 and 4-3 to force extra innings.

Derek Paris started the game-winning rally with a single to center field.

Jack Gitterman said down a sacrifice bunt, and Paris hustled all the way to third base.

After Paul Roeder worked a walk, Canata grounded to short, allowing Paris to come home.

Canata also tripled and scored a run. Paris went 2-for-4, and Cangelosi went 2-for-5 with an RBI.

On the mound, Cangelosi struck out three, walked two and allowed no hits in 4-⅔ to earn the win. Phil Guest lasted four innings before turning the ball over to Dom Paris in the fifth.

Mount Greylock (1-0) goes to McCann Tech on Thursday.
