.jpg) AMHERST, Mass. -- The East Longmeadow baseball team Monday jumped out to a five-run lead and earned a 5-2 win over Pittsfield in the semi-finals of the Western Massachusetts Division 1 tournament.
Tim Krol went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Joe Baxter struck out four in a complete-game effort for the third-seeded Spartans (14-8).
No. 2 Pittsfield (19-3) got doubles from Ian Benoit and Hunter Potash and a 2-for-3 day at the plate from Zack Zerbato.
Benoit started and went four innings on the mound, striking out four and allowing three earned runs. Potash and Ryan LaPierre combined on three innings of scoreless relief.
